Tassen Museum Hendrikje (The Museum of Bags & Purses)

Summer feels so over in August! I got back from vacation last week but still longing for the wonderful people I was with and the beautiful places I have been to. And the weather in SF is not helping either. Classic August, mornings are cold and foggy and the majesty, sun, shows her face in the afternoon then vanishes in the late afternoon leaving her crown to the ugly fog..

Enough of blues, I wanted to write about the bag & purse museum that I visited this past July in Amsterdam called “Tassen Museum Hendrikje”. It was a pretty cool place with 4000 bags and purses from different era’s being the world’s largest bag museum. Exhibit includes items from 16^th century to the present day including designer bags. The history behind the museum idea is very interesting as well, The Museum of Bags and Purses was formed from the private collection of Mrs Hendrikje Ivo, who collected bags for more than 35 years (what a luxury). Her fascination started with a leather bag she found in England as an antiquarian and her interest expanded in years and eventually built a unique collection that has been on display for 15 years.

The museum is located at a gorgeous historic canal house built in 1664 with painted ceilings. You can finish your tour with an afternoon high tea in one of the beautifully decorated historic rooms. Next time you are in Amsterdam this can be a very interesting visit besides all the amazing museums this city offers..(Of course Van Gogh and RijksMuseum shouldn’t be missed!)

Spring Wedges

I am so happy that after weeks of rain the weather got warmer in the city! Finally we can enjoy our spring clothes, accessories and shoes. Yaay!

Wedges and espadrille wedges are one of the biggest trends of this season and they are fun & comfortable to wear (most of the time).. Pair them with your maxi dresses and skirts, shorts and wide legged jeans & pants..Happy spring!

And if you have been wondering the difference between wedge and espadrille here is the answer:

Wedges are a type of shoe where the heel extends from the back of the shoe to the ball of the shoe, in the shape of a wedge. Espadrilles are a type of shoe where the wedge is covered with a woven rope braiding.
