Rain Rain Go Away...

Rainy days are always hard if you have to go out. Don't get me wrong actually it is pretty cozy if you are indoors having your coffee, tea or hot chocolate while reading a good book or simply sitting by the window watching the rain and the people running around with their umbrellas. But unfortunately this wasn’t the case for me this morning..
It was raining like cats and dogs while I was coming to work in the morning (actually for the last several weeks) and by the time I made it to the office I was one of the "broken umbrella victims" of this rain storm. Oh well, what can I say.. I have a good excuse to shop for a new one.
Why not make these unpleasant rainy days more pleasant by adding fun and chic rain accessories?
And adding some color always helps to brighten these gray days.

A Matter of Taste

I came across with these amazing images the other day and I had to post them. These images belong to award-winning Italian photographer Fulvio Bonavia and they are from his book “A Matter of Taste”.
I would love to have the berry purse, the candy bracelet or the brie & blue cheese necklace which is not only stylish but also very tasty!

Spring into Fall Couture Fashion Show

I always try to attend the fashion events in San Francisco in any form because it is a good excuse to dress up, see some friends and most importantly to get my dose of fashion and learn something new while being surrounded by like minded people. I was a guest at the "Spring into Fall Couture fashion show" last week. After a long day at work I had the energy to dress up (in the name of fashion) and went to Bently Reserve Building for the show. I think it is a beautiful and historic building and a perfect venue for a fashion show and they did a good job with the set up. And a little note; I learnt that it is a green building with LEED certification.

Amber Marie Bently was the host as well as one of the designers of the evening showing her beautiful jewelry made from recycled gold, and fair trade gemstones.
The other designers were; Dark Garden Corsetry, Gelareh Alam, Kailia Footwear, Dollymop Designs, Miss G Designs, Rebecca Bruce, Sara Shepherd, Sequoia & Gita.
It was a fashion show with different designers showcasing their mini collections with looks from avant-garde, dramatic and costumey, to sexy, dark and edgy  but overall all the looks had lots of details. I LOVED loved all the head pieces and mohawks made with lots of feathers -from Miss G Designs- they were used with most of the ensembles and I plan to own one.

I really enjoyed the whole show but probably Rebecca Bruce, Gelareh Alam & Dark Garden Corsetry were my favorites. Dark Garden Corsetry has a store in Hayes Valley on Linden Street and it is a wonderful store to visit and play with gorgeous & sexy corsets (this store is a neighbor to Blue Bottle coffee and having a latte there is highly recommended), ready to wear corsets range from $250 to $375 and custom made $500-$1,200 & up, Dita von Teese & Christina Aguilera are clients.

After the show there were  more cocktails & mingling and a silent auction with proceeds going to Coral Reef Alliance, a charity that works to preserve the coral reefs around the world.

Enjoy some of the pictures I took and the SF Station pics were taken by Tessa Morris.

Anne Hathaway at the 2011 Oscars

I don't think that Anne did a great job hosting the Oscars but she did an amazing job changing into 8 fabulous outfits during the show and carried all of them beautifully. Her hairdo changed each time as well (even her nail polish) and she looked stunning in every look. Her grand entrance was in the arm of Valentino Garavani. She was in a strapless red Valentino gown with some flower and ruched skirt details which was borrowed from the Valentino archive. (I guess it is a very big deal)
And from the moment Anne and James Franco opened the show, it was the wardrobe changes that made the show easier to watch. Great job Rachel Zoe for picking great gowns for Anne!

Russell Brand at the 2011 Oscars

British actor & comedian Russell Brand-probably most of us know him as the hubby of Katy Perry and the movie 'Get me to the Greek'- was on my 'best dressed men' list. I loved his polished rock star look in the navy fitted tux with black lapels and  a matching black skinny tie. His plead dress shirt stood up as a nice detail in his look. It was different than a classic tux and he absolutely looked great and appropriate for the occasion while keeping his signature 70's rock 'n' roll style. And I have to say, he was very funny while mistranslating Helen Mirren's French.
Funny and crazy Brit usually goes for the skinny pants and very fitted blazers and pointy boots on his red carpet looks, accessories with interesting scarves or chain necklaces. The only thing I am not a fan of is, his poses with eyes wide open. LOL..

Russell came to the Oscars with his mom since wifey Katy is on a world tour
